December Book Club Pick

As we come into this busy time of year I’m excited to announce this month’s book club pick « Scattered Minds: The Origins and Healing of Attention Deficit Disorder » by Gabor Maté.

As a GP I see both children and adults with either confirmed or suspected ADHD. I often see adults who have not been diagnosed and are searching for answers; answers that the current NHS service in Northern Ireland is limited in its ability to provide. Long waiting lists or in some trust areas no service at all means people who can afford it seek out private services and the other half simply struggle on.

The author, a man diagnosed with ADHD himself, explores the origins of ADHD in childhood development and an optimistic outlook for those with the condition.

I’m excited to explore this topic in more depth and hopefully bring a fresh perspective and support to my patients.
